Chamber of Commerce Member Update: “Slurry Work” is upon use!
Dear Chamber Members,
I'm writing to inform you about important road maintenance work that will be taking place throughout Morro Bay from April 14-30, 2025.
What's Happening
The City of Morro Bay Public Works Department will be conducting slurry seal work on various streets throughout our community. This essential maintenance doesn't happen often (typically only every 5-10 years) and will significantly improve our road infrastructure.
Impact on Businesses
We understand this work will temporarily disrupt normal traffic patterns and street access, which may affect your business operations. READ this notice fully: https://www.morrobayca.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2934
Pay special attention to the “schedule” link this includes maps and dates when work will be completed. https://www.morrobayca.gov/slurryschedule
Important Safety Information
- While the slurry work is taking place, pedestrian access across the street will not be permitted until the road fully reopens to vehicle traffic
- Some areas will have full closures while others may have single-lane closures
How to Prepare
Review the detailed schedule and maps provided by the city to understand exactly when your area will be affected https://www.morrobayca.gov/slurryschedule
- Plan alternate routes for yourself, employees and customers
- Consider posting information about the work on your website or social media
- Allow extra time for travel and deliveries during this period
Working Together
As a Chamber community, let's support each other through this temporary inconvenience. Consider reaching out to neighboring businesses to coordinate efforts during the affected days. While challenging in the short term, these improvements will benefit all of us with better roads for years to come.
The contractor will deliver detailed notices to all affected properties at least four days before work begins. Any schedule changes will be communicated with at least four days' notice.
If you have specific questions or concerns, please contact: Austin Della, Senior Civil Engineer (805) 772-6266 adella@morrobayca.gov
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our city invests in these important infrastructure improvements.
Best regards,
Dina Lundquist
