  • Have you heard of the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce, Government Affairs Committee and their work on behalf of the business community?

The Government Affairs Committee with the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to fostering a diverse representation of the local business community. Each year, members apply to be a part of this important committee with the shared goal of ensuring a wide range of perspectives and expertise. By bringing together city elected officials and city department leadership personnel, the committee creates a collaborative environment where important topics and challenges facing the business community are thoroughly discussed and addressed.

    Mission

The mission of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce is to represent the local business community and recommend policies and actions that improve the local economy, serve the economic interests of its members, and directly impact the attraction, retention, and growth of local businesses.

    Focus Areas

The Committee focuses on key areas such as land use regulations, housing, infrastructure, transportation, land-use planning, workforce development, local economic development programs, and business trends. Their efforts ensure that these areas are continually assessed and enhanced for the benefit of the business community.

We are fortunate to have such a vital committee as part of our Chamber. The Government Affairs Committee diligently researches key issues impacting local businesses, consults with elected officials and department heads, and develops a comprehensive platform for the Chamber to support. Their strategies include representing the interests of businesses to governments and agencies, providing a forum for discussing important local issues, reviewing the implementation of city, county, and state plans that impact local businesses, and recommending policy positions to the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Additionally, they review policies and regulations being considered by the City, County, and State and recommend positions on ballot measures.

Their efforts not only keep the business community informed but also ensure that the Chamber can advocate effectively on behalf of its members, promoting a thriving and resilient local economy.
