The Power of Red Opening Day

Art Center Morro Bay is proud to present a riveting art exhibit, The Power of Red. The colors and hues of red often symbolize an undeniable sense of power, strength, passion and confidence. Chinese brides have worn red since the Ming Dynasty because it is considered the color of luck and wealth, and was once thought to drive away evil spirits. Like the scarlet letter, red implies a sensual connection to a woman’s sexuality. Some have painted their front door red as a sign of hospitality and fashion designers are currently declaring red to be a sought after color in 2023! Is it any wonder why sport car fans often prefer the color red? Like a bowl of fresh strawberries or other fruits, the dynamic colors of red bring energy to still life and abstract paintings. A dazzling red sunset can culminate intense energy or add strength to an otherwise calming mood. During this exhibit, artists are asked to capture the exhilarating sensation of RED. Don’t miss this spectacular display of artwork featuring a wide variety of media, including the 3D artwork of Melanie Bedwell.
