The Art Of Change - Closing Day
The Art of Change with Featured Artist Mark Selby– (Both Galleries) Art reflects the times we live in and it is undeniable that we have been living through a uniquely stressful and chaotic time these past few years. For many artists, being isolated and feeling helpless during the COVID pandemic created a springboard to new material and a new voice that has ranged from unity to fear to distrust. Whether the surrounding “chaos” is political upheaval, homelessness, climate change, sexual identity issues, or women’s rights, artists choose their way to interpret, offer an opinion, soothe, and also express emotion to better help us digest, understand, and even laugh at the world around us. Without fear of subject matter or controversy, we are issuing a call to all artists, of all mediums, to forge a show that is wide-ranging and thought provoking. One that reflects and also helps us understand the times we live in. It is your choice whether you decide to take the chaos head-on in your work or use your artistic sensibilities to be a welcome refuge from the storm. Our Featured Artist is Mark Selby is a local artist of many talents including Paintings, Sculpture and Etchings. Note: We are updating our entry requirements so make sure you take the time to read the following before submitting. See the entry form for additional details. • Entries are limited to two smaller pieces, or, one larger piece for this show • No art solely based on artificial intelligence will be accepted unless given prior authorization from the gallery director.
