Free Demo with Julie Dunn: Tempera Batik Painting

Morro Bay Art Association presents a Free Demo with Julie Dunn: Tempera Batik Painting Atascadero artist Julie Dunn paints in an unusual and refreshing style known as Tempera Batik Painting on paper. Her unique style is characterized by a vivid use of color, an appealing textural surface, and compelling imagery. Tempera Batik is a style of painting that was developed to resemble true batik, without the use of fabric, wax or dyes. Julie has won numerous awards for her paintings, and is the owner of Park Street Gallery, in downtown Paso Robles, where her unique work is on permanent display. Julie will demonstrate step-by-step how she creates her unique paintings. Learn her signature style which starts by drawing an image on select paper, then inking the lines. Next the image is painted, without painting over the lines. Once dry, India ink is applied over the painting. Once dry again, the painting is rinsed, and then carefully detailed. Come discover this technique and learn something fun during this free demonstration. COST: FREE and open to the public. Walk-ins encouraged.
