Better Gnomes and Gardens

WORKSHOP – Morro Bay Art Association is proud to present a workshop in ceramics with ceramic artists Shell Voorhees and Aimee Brantley CLASS DESCRIPTION: Join us for a fun class in clay ceramics. In this workshop you will build a Gnome and Planter. The first two Monday’s will be hand-building your gnome and planter. The pieces will be bisque fired and ready for glazing on the third and fourth Mondays. Connect with other artists and learn the love of working with clay. This workshop is designed for beginners over 16 to adults and is appropriate for intermediate artists as well. Each participant will take home two (2) completed (glazed) pieces (Gnome and Planter) in time for the holidays. ABOUT INSTRUCTORS: Shell Voorhees and her partner, Aimee Brantley of 13 years moved to the Central Coast from Fresno where they met. Aimee, a painter was involved in a community art collective in Fresno. Aimee and Shell met and worked for Pepsi before moving to Morro Bay. They discovered a love for ceramics after taking classes and soon they began working under the name The Ugly Mug Ceramics and found an industrial workspace where they could create. Art and Craft shows were booked for 2020 and nothing could stop them…… except for a world-wide pandemic. Shell and Aimee agreed that they could not just keep creating without a way to financially support the habit. They began entertaining the idea of a storefront and found just the place in Old Town Morro Bay on Main Street. After a lot of praying, a ton of work and an epic gamble The Ugly Mug Ceramics opened its doors October 10th 2020.
