Morro Bay Art Association is proud to present “Ancient Arts”, a series of workshops by lapidary artist, Beverly Brown.
Beverly has taught wire sculpture and other jewelry techniques for 12 years. Her fascination with ancient techniques has lead her to a new series of workshops. The first workshop is Kumihimo Braided Cord, a Japanese fiber art. Students will learn how to make a beautiful braided cord that will be useful in a variety of ways such as necklace chain, dog leash, collar, key chain, decorative edging on clothing, etc.
Beverly’s background in Occupational Therapy makes her uniquely qualified in her approach to teaching therapeutic techniques. She demonstrates how humor and patience can ease the stress of beginning a new craft, and stresses the importance of set-up and positioning to avoid frustration and fatigue.
