Description

David Jonas
A Retrospective

Morro Bay Art Association is proud to present the intensely moving retrospective art exhibit of David Jonas (1926 - 2014).

There is no mistaking the life force conveyed by this award winning artist from Los Osos, California.  Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ca., David attended UCLA, Art Center College of Design and Jepson Art Institute.  After working as an illustrator in New York, he joined Walt Disney Studios in LA, focusing on animation and live action films.  David also worked for Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola.  In 1989, Jonas retired from Disney to teach art at California Art Institute in Thousand Oaks and to pursue fine art.  In 1999, David moved to Los Osos, California with his wife, Susan who also worked 35 years in the Animation business as an ink and paint artist.

Currently David’s production artwork is on display in the recently opened Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco.

Mr. Jonas was a Signature Member of California Art Club.  The Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard, CA, The National History Museum of Los Angeles County, Frederick R. Weisman Museum in Malibu and Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona all featured his work.

During this event, you will find a collection of vibrant oil and watercolor paintings that evoke the dazzling glow of sunlight. Don’t miss this extraordinary exhibit of contemporary fine art paintings.

“David Jonas, A Retrospective” will be on display from March 23 through May 1, 2017.  The opening reception will be March 26, 2pm - 4pm.  This event is free and open to the public.
